Coat of arms of Perlis is represented by group of rice grains. On each stalk there are 22 pieces of grains which means there are 22 districts in the State of Perlis at that time. In the middle of the emblem is a shield which signifies the pride and honour and a symbol of the state's defence against any invasion. It contains 22 pieces of ripe rice in yellow, which shows and the staple food for the people of Perlis. In the middle of the shield, in a circle, is the word Perlis written in Jawi script, the identity of the Malays of Perlis.
The colour green symbolizes rice the main production of the State of Perlis. The colour is also a symbol of peace and harmony of the people of this state.On the whole, the symbol means the pride of the State of Perlis due to the wealth of paddy.
